We're building a world where owning a business is easier than having a job

Over 3 million people have started a business on Durable. We help people build their ideas into businesses and run them from one place: site, brand, leads, payments, and all the work in between.

From James Clift,

Founder of Durable

When I first entered the workforce, I had two options: get a job, or start a business.

I chose both. I washed dishes at a local restaurant, and I started a web development company. The goal was never to build a business empire just to avoid getting a job for as long as possible.

Everyone faces that choice eventually: take the easy path and get a job, or take the risky one and start something of your own.

And most people who say they want to own a business never do. They take the job.

Jobs used to be a good deal. Work hard, and you'd get the house, the pension, the security. That deal doesn't exist anymore.

But the alternative was always harder. On top of the actual work, starting a business meant learning a dozen new skills, hiring people you couldn't afford, and taking on massive financial risk. The work was never the problem. Everything around it was.

Our mission at Durable is to change that. To make business ownership frictionless. To solve the "business" parts of owning a business. Launching your website. Getting your first lead. Booking your first job.

The part that used to take a team and a budget now takes minutes.

Every human brings something a machine can't: a skill, a craft, creativity, ambition, energy.

Human ingenuity will never be replaced. Paired with AI, it will create a world where anyone can own a successful business.

Our vision is simple: a world where owning a business is easier than having a job.

Where it's the default choice. Not the risky one.

A world where everyone in the world has a perfect business that fits their skills, energy, and ambition.

Where they can build something that lasts.

Something Durable.

— James, Founder

What we value

The six things behind what we build, how we decide, and who we hire.

Create net good

Putting more people into business for themselves is good for the world, so we start every decision there. If a choice is good for us but bad for the owners who depend on us, it isn't a choice we make.

Invest in customers

We go further than we have to. We stay helpful and trustworthy, and we obsess over what our customers actually need, not what's easiest to build. Their success is the only scoreboard that counts.

Play offence

We hold a strong opinion about how the world should work, and we ship toward it. Fast. We'd rather move first and adjust than wait for permission or perfect information.

Obsess over quality

Everything we launch should be simple, delightful, and fun to use. The details are the product, so we sweat the ones most companies skip.

Debate and commit

We disagree hard, decide quickly, and move together. Energy is a resource, and once a call is made we spend ours on the work instead of relitigating it.

Take ownership

Showing up isn't enough. We expect great work from ourselves and hold each other to it, and when something breaks, we fix it rather than explain why it wasn't ours to fix.
